Resolution: UAWD Constitutional Convention Program and Strategy

This resolution was passed at the 2026 UAW ConCon Strategy Special Membership Meeting via Zoom on February 15th, 2026.

1. UAWD Program

UAWD designates two priority amendments for our UAWD Constitutional Convention Program:

  1. Fight Layoffs With Work Sharing
  2. Abolish ICE and Fight State Attacks on Workers

UAWD also includes in our Program

  1. Membership Vote on Presidential Endorsements
  2. Worker Control Over Strike Authorization
  3. Anti-Whipsaw Wage Floor and Strike Fund
  4. End Complicity With Israeli Genocide and Imperialist Wars
  5. Abolish Forced Overtime
  6. Preamble Committing to Class Struggle Unionism and the Fight Against Management

The UAWD ConCon Strategy Committee shall apply uniform structure and formatting to the UAWD amendments after adoption.

2. Bringing to Locals

All UAWD members are urged to bring the priority amendments to their Local membership meeting or Joint Council for nomination by the end of April.

UAWD members are encouraged to bring forward additional UAWD amendments that advance class-struggle political education in their Locals. In doing so, members should organize a group of coworkers to help advance the amendments, strategize about how to build support ahead of the vote, and use tactics such as petitions, leafleting, and other collective outreach. Following our approved strategy, we understand that our Program is unlikely to be taken up by the top leadership who control the ConCon, our goal is to find members who are interested in the UAWD Member Platform and engage them in building up shop floor struggle and a Local UAWD Chapter.

The Convention Strategy Committee shall collaborate with the Daily Struggle Editorial Board to publish summaries of all UAWD amendments and an editorial about our overall program by the end of March.

3. Delegate Elections

UAWD members who are a part of a team of UAWD members and supporters that are already organizing together to build up shop floor struggle are encouraged to consider running for Constitutional Convention delegate from their Local. Those who do so are encouraged to run on a platform of the UAWD Program to use the opportunity to advance class-struggle political education.

Members who run for delegate are encouraged to work with their team to use the campaign to build a Local UAWD Chapter: organizing other coworkers to help build the campaign on the shop floor, strategizing about how to build support ahead of the vote, and using tactics such as leafleting and other collective outreach.
