Resolution Reaffirming UAWD’s Organizing Committee

This resolution was passed at the June 2025 Quarterly Membership Meeting via Zoom on June 29, 2025.

Resolution Reaffirming UAWD’s Organizing Committee Submitted for the June 2025 Membership Meeting Whereas the UAWD Organizing Committee (OC) has been an active force in advancing rank-and-file organizing in the manufacturing sector in the UAW. Whereas, the OC has used the “UAWD Organizing Vision and Plan for Building a Local-level Rank-and-file Movement in the Manufacturing Sector” resolution passed by UAWD as a guide for its organizing. Whereas, as detailed in the OC’s 2024 annual review report (bit.ly/UAWD-OC-Report-2024), the OC has spanned over 10 manufacturing Locals and has helped build local rank-and-file caucuses, supported union election races, distributed informational flyers, developed strategies for  bottom-up campaigns in locals, developed organizing trainings, and more. While OC members have made strides in their locals, serious challenges remain. Be it resolved:
  • That UAWD reaffirms the continuation of the OC
  • That, in the spirit of cross-sector collaboration, the OC be open to any UAWD member across any sector organizing in their own local, or who would like to support local rank-and-file organizing
  • That onboarding to the OC will require interested members to fill out the OC questionnaire (https://tinyurl.com/UAWD-OC) and to support the UAWD Member Platform
  • That the OC establish a subcommittee responsible for preparing educational materials and trainings, with the goal of holding a public training about class struggle organizing open to UAW members in the summer of 2025
