WHEREAS, the UAWD membership adopted an IEB Endorsee Program in February, made up of the following three practices that the UAW IEB can concretely implement to build a class struggle union:
- Educating to build militancy for shop floor demands through mid-contract strikes; and
- Organizing to promote working class solidarity through cross-border wage floors in UAW contracts; and
- Building capacity for general strikes through education and member deliberation;
WHEREAS, after reaching out to candidates, none to date have engaged in UAWD’s endorsement process or met the low bar of verbally committing to these three basic demands;
WHEREAS, for UAWD’s endorsement to have significance in the future, it is valuable for us to remain committed to our established endorsement program and our UAWD Member Platform value of Political Independence: “fighting bosses everywhere and maintaining independence from the UAW leadership to be able to criticize what it prioritizes.”
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that UAWD is not endorsing any candidates in the 2026 IEB election; and
BE IT RESOLVED that the UAWD membership adopts the text presented at the 2026 Summer Membership Meeting explaining our non-endorsement in this election as a membership-approved position, for publication in Daily Struggle, with minor additions to bolster the paragraph about non-incumbent candidates and only minimal other editing during the Editorial Board’s finalization process;
BE IT RESOLVED that this publication be disseminated through the standard email and social media channels used for Daily Struggle articles, as well as included in a mass email.
