The first layoffs at the Honeywell airplane brake manufacturing plant in Green Island are scheduled for New Year’s Eve as the company’s aerospace division plans to shutter the facility late next year.
Honeywell has told the New York state Department of Labor that it plans to lay off all 40 of the union employees in the plant by April after deciding to close the plant and shift production to South Bend, Ind.
