The Road to UAW Divestment:
Fighting for Palestine Solidarity through Shop Floor Militancy

Last month, the UAW took an historic vote to divest from Israel bonds. Unite All Workers for Democracy (UAWD) and UAWLabor4Palestine, the organizations that led the campaign, are hosting an event about this victory and the ongoing struggle for solidarity with Palestinian trade unions! Join us on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 4:30pm ET on Zoom for The Road to UAW Divestment.
The event will feature UAW shop floor leaders who will share how they’ve organized in their workplaces for Palestine solidarity over the years to build power. We’ll also hear from UAWD leaders who led the fight for divestment at June’s UAW Constitutional Convention. Speakers include:
- Alan Amen, co-leader of the 1973 Arab-American auto workers wildcat and former UAW Local 600 member
- Michael Letwin, co-founder of Labor for Palestine and former UAW Local 2325 president
- Jeff Schuhrke, labor historian and author of “No Neutrals There: US Labor, Zionism, and the Struggle for Palestine”
- and other shop floor leaders from across the UAW working in manufacturing, higher education, and legal services
