Whereas:
- UAWD and Daily Struggle require a presence on social media to spread awareness of articles and events,
- UAWD and Daily Struggle accounts have been created and are active through platforms Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,
- Posting content requires labor in creating imagery and/or text, often which needs to be tailored for the specific platform,
- Maintenance of posted content can require labor to respond to comments, positive or negative,
- Responding to UAWD members’ requests to repost or reshare content by non-UAWD organizations requires labor,
- The Steering Committee has approved these UAWD Social Media Norms, which are currently in use,
- And the Editorial Board has two members functioning as Co-Art Directors, even though the language states there will be one Art Director.
Be it resolved that:
- Section II.B.vii UAWD Publication Charter shall be amended to the following language:
- “The EB or the membership will select one or two UAWD members to serve as Art Directors, and this role may rotate throughout the term, as determined by the EB or the membership.”
- A new Section II.B.viii shall be added to the UAWD Publication Charter with the following language:
- “The EB or the membership will select one or two UAWD members to serve as Social Media Directors, and this role may rotate throughout the term, as determined by the EB or the membership. Social Media Directors will follow UAWD Social Media Norms established by the Steering Committee or membership and may enlist support from other members of the EB.”
- Following the approval of this resolution, the UAWD Social Media Norms shall be updated by the Steering Committee, with input from the Editorial Board and new Social Media Directors.
