Approving the Initial Appointments to the UAWD Publication Editorial Board

This resolution was passed at the August 2025 Special Membership Meeting via Zoom on August 3, 2025.

Whereas, the Resolution to Create a UAWD Publication Focused on Class Struggle Unionism, adopted at the June 2025 UAWD Membership Meeting, states in Article II.B.ii.b, “The Steering Committee may appoint any UAWD member to the EB; for that member to maintain the position, the appointment must be approved by the UAWD membership at the subsequent membership meeting;” Whereas, in the week after the June Membership Meeting, eight UAWD members, all of whom had completed the UAWD Membership Pledge and affirmed their support for the UAWD Member Platform, made detailed submissions to the Editorial Board Interest Form, agreeing to the full “Responsibilities and Expectations” list contained in the Publication Charter; Whereas, after assessing and discussing their submissions, the Steering Committee appointed these eight UAWD members to the UAWD Publication Editorial Board; Whereas, these eight members were appointed to serve as part of an initial Editorial Board along with our four current Steering Committee members:  
  • Martha Grevatt, Local 869, retiree from Stellantis’ Warren Stamping plant in Warren, MI
  • Judy Wraight, Local 600, retiree from Ford’s River Rouge Complex in Dearborn, MI
  • Nolan Tabb, Local 281, worker at John Deere in Davenport, IA
  • Andrew Bergman, worker at GM’s Detroit Hamtramck Assembly in Detroit, MI 
Whereas, any UAWD member who completes the Editorial Board Interest Form may still be considered for appointment to the UAWD Publication Editorial Board;   Be it resolved, the UAWD membership approves the appointments of the following eight UAWD members to the Editorial Board of our UAWD Publication: 
  • Rob Lett, Local 112, worker at Mercedes’ battery plant in Vance, AL
  • Jean Bae, CFU-UAW, faculty at New York University in New York, NY
  • Toly Rinberg, Local 22, worker at GM’s Detroit Hamtramck Assembly in Detroit, MI
  • Nevena Pilipovic-Wengler, Local 22, Committeeperson at GM’s Detroit Hamtramck Assembly in Detroit, MI
  • Julian de Gortari, Local 4811, student worker at University of California, Los Angeles
  • Noah Stuckey, worker at Mazda-Toyota’s plant in Huntsville, AL
  • Allie Stanton, HAW-UAW, researcher at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA
  • Chuck Gelman, Local 7902, faculty at New York University in New York, NY
